MP expected to criticise Sussex Police in House of Commons – live link

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton has tabled a motion for debate in the House of Commons today (March 13) and is expected to criticise Sussex Police for pursuing a complaint accusing him of racist abuse.

Mr Loughton's debate takes place after questions on international development at 11.30am and before Prime Minister's questions at noon.

The debate follows an investigation by Sussex Police over the email exchange in which Mr Loughton said he supported the description of Kieran Francis, of Shoreham, as “unkempt” and “dishevelled”.

Mr Francis, of Romany gypsy descent, took objection to this description and approached Sussex Police who investigated the matter as a report of malicious communication.

Anyone else would have to write to the IPCC, Loughton (of Burgess Hill) is just abusing his position as MP. We've never seen him act in support of any of his constituents, only himself, maybe the "narcissist" comment was true after all.

You forgot to mention his swearing in response to a polite email and the fact that he was actually wrong as well according to the ICO.

But the truth won't make a good story would it now.

Another Arrogant MP who thinks one law for the people and another for him!
I personally applaud the Police for doing their job! if they had not of responded then the Gentleman who made the complaint would say "Because he is an MP he gets off with it!" To be honest I think the Police should charge the pair of them for wasting police time! they both acted in a manner that is normally found in school playgrounds!!

The man disgusts me. How dare he waste time on a personal grievance in this manner. The Police have my full support in this instance!

Why does he think he should be exempt from having complaints against him investigated just because he is an MP ?

Dry your eyes princess and get on with completing your expense forms.
Incidentaly - did he claim mileage allowance for attending the police station ?

Sorry I disagree. Firstly I object strongly to Sussex police wasting time and resources on such a small issue. Secondly, swearing, I don't consider what Mr Loughton wrote "another example of the whingeing, self-serving, poisonous b******s that seem to have become your hallmark’ 'b*****s' being similatr to the name of a male cow, as swearing when used in this context.

Whether or not you agree with his Politics, some of which I don't. He is a **** good hard working Constituency MP. And from what I know of Mr Francis he may well have a point.

Or a good post on the Argus website, it seems.

You may never have seen him in supprt of his constituents but I saw him out in the snow on Saturday morning earlier in the year canvassing shoppers to see if they had any problems. He's also the only MP ever to knock on my door at election time, though you would think that the other parties would be keen. Anyway, if it stops the Police from wasting time on this trivia I'm all for it.

I suggest that nest time you don't vote for him

I expect an elected representative to hold themselves to a higher standard of conduct then the rest of us hoi poloi.

Now I'm confused. I thought we were supposed to treat our MPs exactly the same us us. No special treatment for them

An elected representative should hold him/herself above making personal remarks, justified or otherwise. Thy should keep their sticky little fingers out of the public purse and they certainly should not use what is a public forum for addressing matters of national concern to further a personal grievance.

What is there to be confused about?

"ARGUS USED AS MOUTHPIECE FOR ANOTHER RACIST CONSERVATIVE SHOCKER!"

THATS the REAL story. Yet again they FAIL to 'mention' he is a TORY. Yet again there is no journalism here - he may as well have dictated to the Argus (his secretary) what to write. And he probably did.

The Argus is in breach of about a dozen PCC codes of practise since they have produced SOO many articles like this lately.

These TORY BOYS/ TORY BOY 'journalist' SCUM should be named and shamed.

THAT would be a real story.

Is he a Tory? Well I never knew that. You do surprise me.

Seriously, why would the Argus mention something that everyone knows anyway. And what's it got to do with anything anyway? It would be no different if he was a Lib/Dem.

If you think the Argus has breached PCC codes tell the PCC, not me. You might want to fix your faulty caps lock first though. Just a thought

His brand of politics has no bearing on the fact that he is abusing his position to air a personal grievance against the police.

Well thanks Argus for deleting my previous post telling the truth but I guess you are okay with Tory MP bashing but delete anything that suggests that Labour may be to blame.

In this case the MP in question had to deal with a P!key B@stard who like the rest of them was taking the **** and playing the human rights to the max . If anyone disagrees they either:

1) have their own a gender against his party (minorities or benefit feckless claimants)

2) Are a P1key themselves.

Maybe the truth hurts - I await for the lefty bias Argus to delete me.

I wouldn't delete such an ignorant arrogant post as the above. It is a perfect example of the type of cerebral activity that occurs when thinking is too much.

All this petty nonsense just draws our attention from the real problems. Next year is the centenary of a certain assassination which triggered off the Great War.
Frau Merkel and her followers are set to make the third- and successful- takeover of Europe. But economically this time.
I don't want to post to Der Argus in 1915 "I told you so".
