Main road closed after drivers bring down telegraph pole near Scaynes Hill

A road is set to be closed for the rest of the day after two cars brought down a telegraph pole.

A black Seat and a blue Vauxhall Corsa both collided with a telegraph pole after crashing on the A272 Lewes Road at Scaynes Hill in two separate incidents at 5.45am this morning (March 14).

Neither drivers, a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, were injured in the crashes but the road remains closed while the vehicles are recovered and engineers from UK Power Networks clear away cables in the road.

The headline text says "...to bring it tumbling to earth". Eh?! Was it hovering over the ground then or is that an elaborate way of saying knocked over?
