Robin Butler has been jailed for four years after defrauding at least 110 people over an eight month period
A conman has been jailed after convincing more than 100 people that he was a specialist collector.
Robin Butler has been jailed for four years after defrauding at least 110 people over an eight month period since he moved to the Crawley area.
Butler, of Eddington Hill, Broadfield, sought out his victims in wanted ads on various specialist motoring or collectors’ forums.
The 39-year-old would claim to have the specialist motoring, fishing parts or military collectables his victims were looking for and persuaded them to transfer money to his account for items that never arrived.
He was caught by police hiding under a bed at his home and was sentenced today (March 14).
