A campaign to get more bosses to take on apprentices is paying dividends.
Brighton and Hove City College said that 14 employers have pledged to take on an apprentice during Apprenticeship Week – and more are set to follow.
The college in Pelham Street is working in partnership with The Argus to create more apprenticeship opportunities in the city.
The news comes as a boss at an award-winning firm praised The Argus and the college for their teamwork.
Jack Allen, apprentice at White Hat Media, a digital marketing agency, is working on projects for the firm’s biggest clients.
Operations director Kevin Elliott said: “The apprenticeship framework has been very successful for us.
“Jack has already proved himself as we’ve integrated him into live projects as part of the development team for clients such as Microsoft.
“It’s been inspiring to see The Argus and City College working together during Apprenticeship Week with their ‘25 in five’ campaign and I’d recommend companies sign up an apprentice now as a sure-fire way of getting qualified, keen people to build up their workforce.”
Mr Allen said: “This apprenticeship showed me that university wasn’t the only path to go down.
“There’s no loss in taking an apprenticeship.”
