Plans for the redevelopment of an old court building will go on display this week.
Lewes residents and business people are being invited to have their say on the proposed hotel development at the former Lewes Magistrates’ Court.
Premier Inn is hoping to open a 60-bed budget hotel on the site which would also include new retail and leisure facilities.
Ben Ellis, a director of Quora Developments, said: “We believe this will not only increase footfall in Lewes town centre but also help to support the local economy.
“Quora believe that the proposals will provide for a development which the local community can feel proud of.”
Quora Developments hopes the regeneration of the court – which closed in 2011 as part of an overhaul of Sussex’s courts system – will create 60 full and part time jobs.
The court, which was opened in 1986 by Princess Diana, went on sale in February last year for £1 million.
The developers will be holding a public exhibition at the court building, in Friars Walk on Thursday, March 28 from 3pm to 7pm.
