A WOMAN who was made redundant when her employers went bust has opened her own shop.
Trudi Stamp launched Trudi’s Bakers in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, on Saturday (April 6) with the help of the Lord Lieutenant for County Durham, Sue Snowdon.
She was made redundant from the Peters Bakery store she ran on the Woodhouse Close estate in the town when the national firm went into administration last year.
The South Durham Enterprise Agency has donated £1,000 to help Mrs Stamp get up and running.
She said: “I have worked for a company all my life and when I was made redundant I just thought, why not go alone.
“Everyone has been very supportive. I am really looking forward to the challenge.”
