I LIVE in Hinton-on-the- Green and do not have a car during the day so the Astons Coaches 540 and the Village Hopper 564/565 services are my links to accessing local services, shopping and rail and bus links.
As from April 14, the 540 service finished except for early morning and afternoon school runs (Saturday and school holidays are by request only). The Village Hopper becomes completely a request service.
Bus drivers do not seem to know much about the changes and I only found out by accident. Our county councillor was aware of changes to the Hopper service but not the 540 buses.
I rang LMS who run the Hopper and was told that they were only doing what Worcestershire County Council tell them to.
However, our councillor said the bus company had taken the decision for commercial reasons. I reckon the truth lies somewhere in between.
I am extremely cross about the loss of our buses.
I also realise ours is not the only service to disappear.
The decision is shortsighted and unfair. If you still have a bus service, be careful, yours may be the next to disappear.
