A long-serving Conservative councillor has defected to the UK Independence Party.
John Livermore, who has been a West Sussex county councillor for Worthing West for 16 years, has resigned from the Conservative Party and West Worthing Conservative Association.
Coun Livermore, who is not seeking re-election this year, said that he has become disillusioned with the association and the way it has “imposed” Worthing borough councillor Paul High as the candidate for the forthcoming county council elections.
