Driver escapes after car caught alight having crashed into tree near Chichester
A car crashed into a tree before catching fire.
Fire crews were called to Old Broyle Road, Chichester, at about 1.30am yesterday after reports a man had crashed his car into a tree.
A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said the car was in flames and the driver had left the scene when crews arrived.
She added the fallen tree blocked the road and a police tracker dog was used unsuccessfully to locate the driver.
