A little boy had to be cut free by firefighters after he got stuck in a laundry basket.

Emergency crews were called to an address in Withdean, Brighton, at around 1:30pm this afternoon.

They found the five-year-old boy wedged fast in a bamboo basket with his worried mother trying to pull him out.

Watch manager Richard Chamberlain said: “He was just playing but his leg had gone underneath his bottom and he was completely stuck.

“His mum had tried to get him out with washing-up liquid but it hadn’t worked. He’d been in there for about 20 minutes by the time we got there.

“We were able to cut him out with a hand saw and everything turned out OK. It was quite an unusual call.”

The little boy was unhurt during his ordeal.
