A travel writer is searching for the secret of true love – by crashing weddings across the globe.

Tom Partridge, who has dubbed himself the “world’s only professional best man” is aiming to attend as many different weddings in as many different countries over the next year.

The 38-year-old will then publish his findings – including the secret to true love – in a charity travel book.

Mr Partridge, who hails from Brighton, said: “No matter where you live on this green earth we all share a common goal, to find love and companionship.

“We all desire our one true mate and when we find them we celebrate the union of hearts and souls. I want to experience and share this special day with the world.

“So if you are preparing for your own nuptials or know someone who is taking the plunge into matrimony then let me know because I would love to join the party. Think of me as a global wedding crasher.”

Mr Partridge is well known in Brighton and Hove having lived in Bevendean, Hove and Kemp Town.

He saved up for his epic travelling trip by working in the kitchens of pubs, including The Sidewinder in Upper St James’s Street and The Pub With No Name in Southover Street.

The intrepid traveller’s first wedding is in a few weeks’ time in China followed by ceremonies in Indonesia, Bulgaria, Israel and South Korea.

He is now calling on even more couples to send him an invite to their special day.

He said: “I am especially interested in an Aboriginal Australian wedding or an Israeli, Indian, Inuit, Kurdish, Mongol or Star Wars ceremony.”

He secured the invites by posting messages about his project on social media sites across the world.

Mr Partridge is pledging any money he makes from the resulting travel book to the Hosanna Children’s Orphanage in Southern India.
