4:30pm Tuesday 9th July 2013 in News
The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Denise Cobb, visited a celebration of green belt protected from development.
The Tory councillor was at the Celebration Picnic on The Green on Sunday, an event funded by the National Lottery.
Coun Cobb was joined by council rangers, wildlife experts, local wildlife organisations and swarms of residents to celebrate in the sun.
Highlights included birds of prey, butterfly and woodland nature walks, sheep petting, dog competitions, face-painting, a children’s nature quiz and a hotly contested tug-of-war.
Also present were Sussex Wildlife Trust, Keep the Ridge Green Wildlife Group, Patcham RSCPA, South Downs National Park and Council Animal Welfare, who were all giving out advice and information.
The sun shone on the celebrations to make it one of the best events yet.
