A historic railway is to be recognised with a prestigious award.
Brighton’s Volks Electric Railway is set to be honoured this weekend with the coveted Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Engineering Heritage Award.
The seafront railway, which opened in 1883, will join a list of winners which include the Vulcan Bomber, the SS Great Britain and the WW2 code-breaking Bombe machine at Bletchley Park.
An award ceremony will be held from 11.15am this Saturday at Volk’s Tavern in Madeira Drive, Brighton.
