Special donation from TV gardener to Elm Grove Primary School
3:30pm Wednesday 10th July 2013 in News
Pupils at Elm Grove Primary School received a welcome boost to their school garden from a special guest.
Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins visited the Brighton school to donate a range of plants, including a cherry tree and an apple tree, after their headteacher Joel Thorpe was contacted by Morrisons as part of their new scheme.
Mr Thorpe said: “It’s been very timely for us because we’re in the middle of developing our school grounds.
“We’ve managed to gather enough money to develop our reception play areas, and this donation will help move our plans further.
“As a school in the middle of the city, any green space is very precious to us, and it’s made the pupils take ownership of their new surroundings.”
The trees will be planted on a hilled area in the school garden, which will enhance the green feel of the school.
