200 jobs filled at recruitment day in East Sussex
The organiser of an apprenticeship recruitment event has hailed its success.
The Let’s Do Business Group has organised the biggest ever apprenticeship show in East Sussex.
More than 500 young people attended the event at Brighton Racecourse to see innovative and inspirational ideas presented by more than 40 employers and training providers with vacancies to fill.
Stephen King, head of training and skills at the company, said all the attendees had the opportunity to speak to a range of exhibitors about employment opportunities in a range of industries.
He said: “Around 200 vacancies were filled on the day. It was a vibrant day with lots of activities. We will be back again next year if we can secure funding.”
Meanwhile employers can discover more about how an apprenticeship can benefit their business.
The ‘Grow Your Own Talent’ event on July 26 at 3pm at MyHotel, Brighton, will focus on the Government’s apprenticeship grant for employers.
Mark Howard, southern divisional area director for the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “For a strong and growing economy we must have a high level of skills to meet employer demand, and apprenticeships are a vital way of achieving this. The National Apprenticeship Service is not only committed to increasing the number and range of apprenticeships on offer, but also to ensuring the quality of apprenticeships, which is key to this growth.
“We want apprenticeships to become the new norm for ambitious young people and expanding businesses.”
