Brighton Dome looking for architect to take on £17m revamp
One of the city’s most famous landmarks is to get a major facelift.
Bosses at the Brighton Dome are looking for a design team to rejuvenate the 19th century building.
Architect-lead design teams’ have been asked by Brighton Dome, on the South East Business Portal – a website where businesses can bid for work, to pitch a design and prepare a planning application.
The budget for the work is 16.95 million. It will include a new entrance on New Road featuring a restaurant and café and refurbishment of the 230-seat Studio Theatre to improve capacity and facilities.
A spokesman for Brighton Dome and Festival Ltd said: “Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival welcome bids for this work from local, national and international consultants alike and all bids will be scrutinised using the same criteria. The criteria are three-fold: quality of the bid and ability to satisfy the brief; evidence of direct experience of similar projects; price and value for money.”
