Start-up success stories as awards celebrate best of Sussex’s new firms
The search is on for the most successful start-ups in Sussex.
Sponsored by Simply Business and organised by Startups.co.uk, the StartUps Awards recognise the success of businesses which have been trading for less than three years.
Previous winners at the awards over the past nine years include some of the UK’s fastest rising brands, such as Naked Wines, BeatThatQuote.com and The Cambridge Satchel Company.
There are 13 awards up for grabs this year, with categories including Innovative Business of the Year, Service Business of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as Franchisee of the Year, the Woman in Business Award and the overall Simply Business Startups Business of the Year, the winner of which is selected from the winners of the other categories.
The deadline for entries is September 13.
Top entrepreneurs, business experts and former Startups Awards winners will formthe judging panel to review each of this year’s entries.
The judges will include Mary Perkins co-founder of Specsavers, Sarah Tremellen, founder of Bravissimo, James Ashton, head of business at the Evening Standard, and Julien Callede, of Made.com, winner of the Young Startup of the Year Award 2012.
Fiona Wood, of Naturally Cool Kids won the Mumpreneur Business of the Year Award in 2012.
She said: “Winning Mumpreneur Business of the Year was amazing.
“Looking at the quality of judges and the in-depth process for judging each business entry, the Startups Awards has definitely given me a huge confidence boost to move forward in 2013.”

This year’s winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Kensington Roof Gardens, on December 6, 2013.
