Historic march led by Caroline Lucas
1:00pm Sunday 21st July 2013 in News
The battle to give women the vote is to be recognised with the recreation of an historic march.
Scores of people left Brighton yesterday to make their way to Hyde Park in London.
The walk, which will take a week to finish, will celebrate 100 years since the Great Suffrage Pilgrimage of 1913.
About 50,000 women walked from all across Britain and met in the park to demonstrate to the Government how many women wanted the right to vote.
Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas, pictured, and Baroness Joyce Gould will see the walkers off from the Palace Pier at 10.30am.
Walkers and wellwishers are encouraged to wear sashes or bonnets in remembrance.
