Man injured in Eastbourne lift plunge
An elderly man was injured after a lift plunged as he was in it.
Firefighters rescued the man as the lift fell from the first-floor to ground level.
Calls were made to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, raising concerns that they had heard a loud bang at 9.50am at Ravelstone Grange Care Home, Denton Road.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene, along with the Technical Rescue Unit from Lewes, and a support appliance.
Twenty crew members attended and rescued the man, giving him oxygen therapy at the scene. He has since been taken to hospital.
Firefighters isolated power to the lift and are still at the scene.
