The bin dispute in Brighton and Hove is off – after workers voted in favour of accepting a revised pay offer.
Waste piled up in the streets after industrial action by Cityclean workers at Brighton and Hove City Council.
The dispute, which was over changes in overtime and allowance payments, culminated in a week-long strike last month.
Representatives have now announced that 60% of workers voted to accept a revised offer from council officials.
In a statement, Mark Turner, GMB Branch Secretary said: “These negotiations have been both difficult and complex, but the resolute support and solidarity of GMB members have shown during this dispute, to protect their pay, has resulted in the current improved council offer being one which the membership were able to accept today.
“The GMB’s notification of the withdrawal of the threat of any further industrial action will of course be subject to the agreement being formally signed by both sides.”
The result of the ballot was due to be announced last week.
But the GMB said it had to delay this a couple of days due to the "complex" nature of the vote.
