March of Mermaids heads for Brighton and Hove
2:40pm Friday 26th July 2013 in News
An invasion of sea creatures will take over this Brighton and Hove tomorrow in the city’s first March of the Mermaids.
Hannah Chilton, 25. from Brighton, was so inspired by the Coney Island Mermaid Parade which takes place very year in New York that she decided to bring the event to Brighton.
She said: “I have been obsessed with mermaids and all things related to the sea for as long as I can remember.
"I’m hoping mermaids, mermen, sea creatures and sea-fearing folk of all kinds will come together and hop, flop and march along the seafront.
"The sea and coast are vital to Brighton and I hope this event will grow and become an annual diary date in the Brighton and Hove calendar.”
Money raised at the event will go to the Marine Conservation Society.
