Murder enquiry launched following death of Lee Molineau - killed by one punch
Police have launched a manhunt following the suspected murder of a man in Eastbourne.
Lee Molineau, 46, of no fixed address, died in the Hurstwood Park neurological unit, Haywards Heath, on Tuesday night.
He had been, in a critical condition since being punched once in Seaside Road, Eastbourne, on the evening of Wednesday, July 24.
Today his family said: “Lee was a happy-go-lucky lovable rogue, loved by his family and friends. However, he had some demons in his past that took him down the wrong path.”
Members of his family were at his bedside when he died.
Mr Molineau suffered a serious head injury following an altercation between him and two women just before 11pm.
It appears at this stage that an unknown man has intervened and assaulted him. He was last seen running off.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Pollard of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: "We are currently following certain lines of enquiry and are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, as well as anyone else who has any other information about the incident.
"It is still not clear exactly what caused the altercation, or why the man intervened. We are still seeking the second woman, as well as the man whose description we have issued."
The man who ran off is described as white, in his early 30s, of tanned complexion, 6ft, and of stocky athletic build with short cropped hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white footwear.
Ruby Heard, 25, of Lexden Drive, Seaford, appeared at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 27 July, charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Lee during the incident. She was remanded in custody to Lewes Crown Court for a preliminary hearing there on 23 August.
