Brighton and Hove gymnasts off to a flying start

A gymnastics club has had a cracking start to the summer.
Brighton and Hove Gymnastics Club, which caters for a wide range of gymnastic abilities, hosted their annual Club Competition in July.
More than 230 children from the club entered and achieved some fantastic results.
Among the participants was Angel Fullylove who secured first place in the 12 to13-year-old category, scoring 16.90 points.
Bernie Richards also succeeded in the Men’s Artistic category scoring a grand total of 30 points.
Parents and coaches alike commented on howwonderful it was so see so many children representing their club.
In addition to this, the gymnastics club were invited to take part in another competition which was held in Lancing by Wickers Gymnastics Club on the same weekend.
One of the successful participants was Sebastian Frenchum who came first overall in round three of the men’s level one with an overall score of 29.20.
Samuel Conway was another star on the day after coming first in men’s level two with an overall score of 32.80.
Daphne Hand, gym manager, said: “The competition had a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish and we wish to congratulate all those who took part in both competitions for doing the club proud.”
No stranger to success, Daphne herself was invited to receive an award of merit from the national body British Gymnastics in Nottinghamshire.
The award acknowledged her hard work in gymnastics over the past eight years.
She said: “The evening was a thrill to be at and I was lucky enough to be in the company of men from the Olympics Men’s Artistic team.”
Brighton and Hove Gymnastics Club will be offering a holiday course for budding gymnasts from Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22.
