Boxing gym revamp is a knockout
3:30pm Sunday 11th August 2013 in News
YOUNGSTERS punched above their weight to deliver a knockout transformation of a popular sports venue.
The Brighton and Hove City Council-owned boxing gym in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, reopened on Wednesday after being painted and decorated with help from young volunteers.
Three of the enthusiastic teenagers – Charlie, Mason and Curtis – worked on the project for the full three weeks and were involved in all aspects of the renovation, from project management to rewiring and plumbing.
Bill Randall, chairman of the council’s housing committee, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved in this excellent project with so many positive outcomes – the gym looks great.
“There has been much praise of the young people’s attitude and abilities and I wish them all every success in the future.”
The project is jointly run by the council’s Resident Involvement Team and Youth Employability Service.
