A CARE home has a brand new look following a £750,000 overhaul which a manager hopes will make it an even nicer and happier place to live.

Greenhill Park Residential Care Home in Greenhill Park Road, Evesham, has a brand new wing, 14 new bedrooms and other new features as part of work to transform and enhance it.

Other new features include a hairdressing salon, a garden room, a lounge, a small kitchen, a treatment room and an extended decking area.

The home has also increased the number of staff from 20 to 25 to reflect the increase in the number of residents from 24 to 34, with the possibility that more could be recruited in future. The newly-enhanced and extended care home was officially opened by the Mayor of Evesham, Mark Goodge, who was there with his wife and two children on June 25.

Maria Bayliss, care manager and joint proprietor with her brother Michael Cole, said: “It has completely uplifted the home. The enhanced facilities are just fabulous for the residents.

“We have the garden room which is a nice quiet room where you can sit and look over the garden.

“The old existing lounge has been converted into a television lounge.”

She said the overhaul allowed people to better enjoy the commanding views of the Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill.

The changes are some of the most significant in the history of the home which has been present there since 1986 and run by the family since February 2005. The standard of the work, a 43-week project by Mossvale Construction, has been praised by Mrs Bayliss.

She said it was important to the family that the work focused not only on providing new bedrooms but on enhancing the enjoyment of people living there.
