An architect from Mitcham has been recognised for his work designing an earthquake-resistant, energy efficient Japanese tower.
Jeffrey Adjei, a student at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, was awarded the diploma prize for excellence from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The judges were impressed with Mr Adjei’s design for an earthquake resistant Japanese tower using the flow of water to connect to key aspects of Japanese culture.
Mr Adjei attended John Ruskin College in Selsdon and also completed the foundation course in art and design at Croydon College.
The 26-year-old has recently completed part two of his studies towards qualifying as an architect which takes at least seven years.
