Fracking protesters form human chain around Balcombe drilling site
5:49pm Sunday 18th August 2013 in News
Hundreds of anti-fracking protesters have formed a human chain around a controversial drilling site.
The activists joined hand-in hand around the test drilling facility in Balcombe this afternoon.
They are opposing the work being carried out by energy firm Cuadrilla.
Demonstrators gathered at a campsite set up by the group No Dash for Gas this morning.
They held a march from Balcombe railway station to the drilling site at 3pm.
The test drilling does not involve the use of the controversial fracking technique.
However, the energy firm has not ruled out its use in the future.
Brighton Pavilion MP, Caroline Lucas, was among those on the march.
More details and pictures to come.
