Hunt for Shoreham cat which escaped crash
A Shoreham woman who survived a serious car crash is appealing for help to find her missing cat who escaped from the wreckage.
Carol Reed, 63, of Old Fort Road, was travelling to Somerset with her partner and pet cat, Alfie, for a bank holiday vacation when the car she was in lost control on the A27 near Angmering on August 23.
The car, which was towing a caravan, rolled over twice before crashing into a tree – leaving Ms Brown with a fractured spine and broken collar bone.
Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue cut Ms Reed free with specialist rescue equipment, but Alfie managed to escape through a smashed window during the commotion.
She is now appealing for readers to help find her beloved pet, who has been missing since the accident over two weeks ago.
Ms Reed said: “The car overturned twice. I looked back and saw he was fine, but it was when we were being cut out and rescued that he escaped through a smashed window.
“I have two fractures in my spine, a broken collar bone and had glass in my arm that required lots of stitches.
“But it’s even worse not having Alfie here. We had never taken him away in a caravan or on holiday with us before and it was his first time.
“I can’t even go out looking for him because of my injuries. If we could be reunited with him I would be so happy.
“I’d ask that if anyone near the area around Poling sees or finds Alfie to please get in contact. I miss him very much.”
Alfie is white with a half brown/half black head and a brown/black tail with a white tip.
