Residents bowled over as wildlife haven blooms in Preston Park
7:30am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
What a blooming good idea.
Hundreds of people were left bowled over when Brighton and Hove City Council announced it would close two of the bowling greens in Preston Park, Brighton.
But since the decision was taken, officials have swapped woods for weeding as a haven for wildlife has been created.
Among the plants bursting through following the scattering of seeds include lupins, poppies and marigolds.
An area around the demonstration growing garden also got the wildflower treatment thanks to local volunteers and the Brighton and Hove Harvest project.
