4:00pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
In two years’ time the Rugby World Cup is coming to the Amex stadium in Brighton and sports’ enthusiasts are gearing up to get everyone rucking and rolling by the time the competition comes to town.
To celebrate the milestone, tag rugby players from Balfour Primary School took to the beach with a couple of the specially-designed balls for the 2015 England and Wales tournament.
This summer the Balfour superstars won the National Tag Rugby Championships and were joined on the beach by members of Brighton Rugby Club.
Councillor Geoffrey Bowden, chairman of the economic development and culture committee, said: “We are proud to welcome the Rugby World Cup and yet again see an international focus on our city.
“The successful bid for the city to be selected as a host venue is a credit to all those who worked hard to make it happen.
“It’s a real opportunity for us to showcase the city’s worldclass stadium and highlight our home-grown sports talent.”
