FANS of the classic tale of The Wizard of Oz should follow the yellow brick road to Sharples School.

More than 80 children from the secondary school will be taking to the stage, accompanied by talented youngsters from St Paul’s CE Primary School, The Oaks, High Lawn and Sharples Primary schools next week to bring the colourful production alive.

Sharples school headteacher, Rachel Quesnel, said: “Pupils and staff from our school and the local primaries have all worked incredibly hard to create a show that will be appreciated and enjoyed by everybody. There has been an incredible atmosphere throughout the preparations and, having attended the dress rehearsals, I’m sure that the live shows will be fabulous.”

Following a special performance at the Friends of Astley Bridge VIP Cabaret fundraising evening tomorrow, the cast will take to the stage at the high school to entertain the public on of The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday and Thursday.

Both shows start at 7pm and a limited number of tickets are still available from Sharples School main reception on 01204 333253 priced at £4 for adults and £3 for children and concessions.

Some tickets are also still available for the Friends of Astley Bridge fundraising evening performance, where visitors can enjoy a buffet with the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton.
