Hungerford Town 0, Redditch United 2

RAMPANT Redditch made it five wins out of six as two second half goals wrapped up the points, avenging an earlier five-goal drubbing at the hands of Hungerford in the process.

Liam McDonald’s side dominated from the start but had to wait until a late two-goal blast finally saw off their hosts.

Ashley Sammons fired wide early on for the visitors with Joe Ballinger heading a corner over the target from in front of goal.

But the best chance of the half came in the 31st minute when Jermaine Hylton beat his defender out wide and squared to Harvey Headley only for the striker to slide the ball the wrong side of the post with the goal at his mercy.

Hungerford’s best first half effort also came courtesy of the Reds, an early Ballinger clearance cannoning off fellow defender Jim Mutton and prompting keeper Sam Hornby into a save.

It was a similar tale after the break with United looking the more likely to score.

And they duly obliged on 72 minutes when Edwin Ahenkorah beat Hungerford keeper Paul Strudley to the ball and rolled it to substitute Dave Bridgewater who slotted home from close range.

Six minutes later and there was almost a second for the visitors when a flowing move saw Sammons pick up a punched Hornby clearance before setting Hylton free. He picked out Bridgewater but his shot flew inches wide.

Alan O’Brien did force Hornby into action soon after before the Reds sealed the win a minute from time when Ahenkorah broke upfield and produced a neat finish to fire past the Hungerford keeper.
