Fewer than 30 people queued to meet Katie Price at her fragrance signing in Bolton - and she responded by ordering out photographers and refusing to come out of a back room.

The short queue gathered at Tesco Extra in Horwich near Bolton yesterday morning, where the Former Patcham High pupil was due to appear at 11am.

Some dedicated fans waited hours before they were able to meet the 35-year-old, also known as Jordan, in a private room in the supermarket.

A table had been set up on the shop floor for Katie to sign copies of her fragrance, Kissable, but she refused to emerge until waiting photographers left the premises.

She then refused to come out at all and fans were taken separately up to the room, near the supermarket’s cafe, just before 12pm.

A member of Katie’s management team said the mother-of-four could not come on the shop floor as her three-month-old baby Jett was poorly with a temperature.

She wrote on Twitter: “Sorry guys, I’m here at my signing.

“Jett’s got a cold, not well so just settling him.”

Fans who had bought a bottle of the £15 perfume were able to meet Katie, but those who had waited more than an hour to get a glimpse of her were left disappointed.

The strong-smelling, musky scent comes in a lipstick-red bottle, which the former Page 3 model said she designed to represent her "flirty yet innocent" side.

One punter said it smelled just like Brut.

Despite the small turn-out and delay, her loyal fans left the store happy.

Rachna Bhagani, aged 35, from Didsbury, arrived at 9am and waited almost three hours to meet Katie for the 12th time.

The 35-year-old, who works in recruitment administration, said: “I’ve been to Kettering, Milton Keynes and Doncaster to meet her.

“It’s great because she knows me now.

“I like the fact that she’s so honest. What you see is what you get with her. There’s no lies. She never denies anything.

“She’s a fantastic role model and she does a lot for charity.

“She’s down-to-earth and appreciates her fans.

“She told me it’s been really manic because her baby hasn’t been well and they are flying out to Australia on Saturday.

“He was in a pram but she had a white cloth covering him.”

Morgan Mercer, from Westhoughton, was delighted to meet Katie on her 13th birthday yesterday.

She said: “It’s the first time I’ve met her, it was fun.”
