An internet entrepeneur has set about building his empire from the comfort of his humble seaside flat.

‘King of the Web’ Felix Kjellberg, 24, better known as PewDiePie, has more YouTube subscribers than Justin Bieber, Adele and Lady Gaga put together.

The web sensation specialises in wacky commentaries of video games and has millions of young fans who mob him around the world.

PewDiePie, which rhymes with ‘cutie pie’, is thought to be worth millions after uploading 1,500 YouTube clips watched 2.7 billion times.

He moved to Brighton with his girlfriend earlier this year because of the UK’s superior internet and now plans to settle down in Hove.

Discussing a recent trip to Singapore, Felix said: “They had to hold me back because there were so many fans.

“It was insane, the most unreal experience, literally like I was a rock star.

“I felt like I was part of The Beatles or something, people were screaming everywhere.

“I get recognised everywhere, especially in the UK.

“They mainly just want to take a picture, which I’m more than happy to do.

“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to meet me but some people are shaking. It’s really cute.”

Not everyone is a fan with some commentators calling him a “gibberish-spouting clown”.

The Sweden-born heartthrob quit university in 2011 to focus on his YouTube career and has not looked back.

Fans and ‘bros’

Earlier this year his channel became the most popular in the world with 15 million subscribers.

His main channel involves him commentating on horror and action video games, such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

The gaming commentaries were soon expanded to include bizarre montages involving his girlfriend and video star Marzia Bisognin and his pugs Edgar and Eva.

PewDiePie calls his followers his ‘bros’ and posts weekly video logs, aka vlogs.

His net-worth was estimated at £4 million when he had amassed 870m views – and he know has three times that amount.
