Santa should have no problem finding this Hangleton home on Christmas Eve – just follow the light.

Every year the Farnes family crams Christmas into every corner of their front garden in Amberley Drive.

With hundreds of winking lights, an army of snowmen and scores of festive figurines, the property can be seen for miles around.

Mum Lyn said the dazzling display is getting bigger and better every year – but admitted the only drawback was the ho-ho-horrendous energy bill.

She said: “We pay about £200 extra over winter, but it’s definitely worth it.

“We have people coming from miles around to see our house and it’s becoming an annual thing now.”

Dad Michael, a supermarket worker at Sainsbury’s in Hove, is the man responsible for the eye-popping display.

Each year he lays out a plan on his pool table before he starts work to make sure no decoration is out of place.

For months he has been out in all weathers preparing for the big moment – the grand switch-on.

Two reindeer make their debuts this year, lovingly crafted out of fibreglass by Michael on his days off.

The Farnes children – Sabrina, 12, and five-year-old Roni- Jo – say they spend all year looking forward to their special Christmas.

Lyn said: “We’ve also got a nativity scene this year for the first time. Michael’s been out there all year working hard, even when it’s raining.

“People at school keep on asking our kids when the lights are going to be switched on – everyone knows about it.

“We like peeping through our curtains to see how people react when they pass by. It’s great.”

A wishing well has been put at the front so dazzled onlookers can put their hand in their pocket for charity.

All donations will be passed to Paws animal sanctuary in Findon.
