Fire fighters spent the early hours of the morning extinguishing wheelie bins in a string of suspected arson attacks.

The crew from Preston Circus Community Fire Station were called initially to a blaze in Old Shoreham Road where a green wheelie bin had been set alight at about 2.20am.

But they were soon alerted to further fires in Southdown Road where two more bins had been torched.

The solitary Brighton crew were out on the call for about 20 minutes.

The incident has been reported to the police and the fire investigation team.

There have been no reported injuries.

If you saw anything suspicious, call the Sussex Police on 101.
