The Argus: VIDEO: Police helicopter captures hardy Brightonians braving sub-zero tempratures VIDEO: Police helicopter captures hardy Brightonians braving sub-zero tempratures

These incredible images show Brighton and Hove alive in winter - despite the sub-zero tempratures.

The fascinating video comes from the police helicopter which was called out on a job yesterday evening (December 4).

The crew was scrambled to search for a missing person which later turned out to be a false alarm.

The video shows volleyball players down at Yellowave in Madeira Drive, skaters at the Pavilion ice rink and youngsters at The Level.

For more videos and up-to-date information on call-outs visit the crew's Twitter page.

Are helicopters always called out to find a missing persons?
False Alarm?
At what cost to the tax payer was this wasted helicopter flight?

I don't get it...I suppose at least we got a video proving finally that people do stuff in Brighton.

The Police should try walking the streets rather than fly helicopters at 2000 feet. They might actually catch some street muggers.

I can see how you could find a missing person with a helicopter in the countryside, they would be fairly easy to spot, but in the middle of a busy city? How on earth can that work?
I haven't watched the video but I had to smile at the picture of people on an ice rink! In winter! Whatever next?

Many missing people have been located by helicopters although this is irrelevant since the helicopter was not looking for a missing person. I know this because of the police helicopter twitter feed which says "Brighton to assist sussex police with a search a suspect. False alarm, good intent"

Which is odd because the argus have taken this video from the same twitter feed?

medianscore, please collect your idiot of the day award from the end of the pier - just keep walking south until you find it

Yes....I really would rather they didn't hover overlong above built-up areas.

Serious point - given that all police forces do seem to use the same type, I wonder why they've not all been grounded pending a full inspection.
