Yet again I was held up for an hour because of someone's stupid driving, as were many others. When it rains hards, slow down. When will these people ever learn?

Only an hour? I got stuck for 2 hours - and 3/4 of a hour of that was in the tunnel.

And when will the police start getting their act together by preventing motorists getting entangled in the snarl-ups by diverting traffic? Traffic needs to be shunted off the by-pass at the Dyke or Hangleton exits?
Accidents more often than not occur "after" these exits
so where is the sense in allowing traffic to pile up past them?
And Fathger Ted is right, it was only the West bound lane that was closed.
I can't ever recall hold-ups or or an accident on the North bound.
And it is high time lane and speed restrictions were put in place on the West bound carriage, after the Hangleton exit/junction.

I was lucky then, only 45 minutes.

Given the location, I wonder if it was due to the usual idiotic lane discipline. You know how it goes, let's leave it till the last moment before barging across into the exit slip.

Did you get out and look inside any of the doors? I have always wanted to know why there are so many and what's behind them!

Escape routes is the answer.
The doors lead onto the opposite carriage and can be used as an escape route in the case of fire in particular.
All other 'doors' hide the necessary equipment for the lights and fans etc..
