A global brand has been confirmed as an official partner of the Brighton Half Marathon.

True Sports Performance brand ASICS has been confirmed as official sportswear and training partner for next year’s event.

The Brighton Half Marathon, in its 24th year, takes place in the city on Sunday, February 16, and is the first major half marathon in 2014 with experts dubbing it as perfect training ground for the spring marathons.

About 11,000 runners will be taking to the streets of Brighton and Hove, with a mix of first-time half marathon runners, club runners, personal best-chasers and charity runners lining up on the start line.

Event manager Paul Bond said: “The Brighton Half Marathon is going from strength to strength and we are proud to announce ASICS as the official sportswear and training partner for the race.

“ASICS is the perfect fit for the race and we look forward to working with ASICS in the lead up to the Brighton Half Marathon.”

ASICS will support the race and runners with assets like MY ASICS on-line training programme, training plans and expertise advice.

ASICS UK marketing manager Cathy McGinnis said: “ASICS is delighted to announce its sponsorship as the Official Sportswear and Training Partner for the Brighton Half Marathon.

“We are certain the partnership will strengthen ASICS’ position as the runner’s choice in the UK.

"We look forward to supporting all the runners on their journey.”

The half marathon’s public places sold out in record time this year, but wannabe runners can still get a place to run through The Sussex Beacon charity, which organises the race and offers specialist care and support for men, women and families affected by HIV.
