A man suffered a puncture wound when a Border Collie bit through his wellington boot.
The victim was working in fields off Newlands Lane close to the bridge over the old railway line in Centurian Way at about 4pm on November 21 when the black and white dog ran up to him and bit him on his left calf.
The victim tried to shake the dog off but it only let go when the apparent owner approached and called it off.
The woman owner then walked off under the bridge.
She is described as white, aged between 40 and 50 and 5' 7".
Anyone with any information about the dog and its owner is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 1105 of 21/11 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
