First World War medals were stolen from a Brighton home while the owners were on holiday.

The home in Poplar Close was burgled between November 22 and December 1.

Burglars forced open the back door and stole jewellery including an unusual ring and two First World War medals – a British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Detective Constable Tim Craig said: “All of the items taken are of an extremely sentimental value to the occupants and they are keen to be reunited with them.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who might be able to provide information about when this burglary took place or who saw anything suspicious during that time.

“If you are able to provide any information about the burglary or the stolen items please contact Sussex police on 101, quoting serial 435 of 1/12, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
