Musicians will have the opportunity to enrol on part time courses at one of the country’s leading providers of music courses from October next year.

The Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) will offer three of its BA (Hons) courses part time, including business music, song writing and music production which will all be open to student finance.

It is hoped the move, which will include vocational and higher education courses, will attract new students who have a passion for music but wish to continue working alongside their education.

Vaseema Hamilton, head of BIMM Brighton, Bristol and Manchester, said: “We’re very proud of the diversity of courses on offer at BIMM and the new part time BA (Hons) courses will open BIMM up to a whole new demographic of students.

“By offering part time learning, we’re giving the opportunity to many potential students who have not had the option open to them to study towards something that’s completely new or to gain further education for those already working in the music industry.”

BIMM boasts an impressive alumni including Brighton’s chart sensation Tom O’Dell and Ben Thompson who is currently on a world tour with Two Door Cinema Club.

Those who choose to enrol on the music business course will study modules including concert promotion, tour management, live sound technology and music publishing.

Song writing students can expect to cover song writing, vocal and lyric techniques, music theory and arrangement, while those who take up a place on the music production course will immerse themselves in studio engineering, audio theory and acoustics and video and multimedia production.

Part timers will receive the same standard of education as those studying full time with lectures at the Brighton campus as well as full time access to the college’s state of the art facilities.
