A 12-year-old girl was injured in a crash.
The youngster was crossing the road at 8.30am today when she was struck by a green car. She was taken to Conquest Hospital with foot and hip injuries.
The driver did stop to see if she was ok but then left the scene without waiting for police to arrive or leaving any details.
The incident took place in Gillsman Hill, St Leonards.
PC Barry Freeman said: "The car involved may have been a Ford Focus. The road was busy at the time and I am sure someone must have seen the collision. We are appealing for the driver to come forward and witnesses."
Call Sussex Police on 101.
