Three men have been jailed for a total of 34 years after being convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs into Gatwick Airport.

Thomas Ramdas, 34, of Norwood Road, London, was jailed for 18 years.

He was convicted of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine, conspiracy to supply three kilograms of heroin, conspiracy to import three kilograms of cocaine via Gatwick Airport and conspiracy to import cocaine via Gatwick Airport.

Daniel Kennedy, 33, of Blunt Road, Croydon, was jailed for 12 years for conspiracy to import 3 kilograms of cocaine via Gatwick Airport.

Keith Prempeh, 45, of Spring Grove, Road, London, was jailed for four years for conspiracy import three kilograms of cocaine via Gatwick Airport.

The men were convicted after a ten-week trial at Kingston Crown Court.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police identified Ramdas as the head of an organisation involved in importing Class A drugs into the UK from Jamaica.

Ramdas would use of Bubbas Restaurant in Tulse Hill to distribute this large amount of cocaine and heroin to other South London gang members.

In February 2013 a vehicle travelling south on the M1 towards London was stopped on the Edgware Road where it was searched. In the boot were three dog biscuit boxes, each containing 1kg of heroin.

Further investigation revealed that Ramdas and Kennedy had recruited Prempeh as a courier to import a large quantity of class A into the UK from Jamaica.

In March this year police awaited the arrival of Prempeh at Gatwick Airport from Jamaica. He was stopped with the assistance of UKBA and found to be wearing a tailor-made body suit containing 3kg of cocaine strapped to his body.

Ramdas and Kennedy were arrested in simultaneous operations.
