Thieves stole treasured family possessions from a home.

One of the victims who was recently widowed had jewellery stolen which belonged to her deceased husband. This included several watches and gold necklaces and her own diamond engagement ring.

The homes were targeted in Beech Road, Horsham, between 1pm and 7pm on Thursday, December 12.

Both houses were ransacked and had cash and jewellery stolen including an antique engraved silver bangle.

Detective Constable Stuart Streeter said; "Not only have the thieves stolen her late husband's treasured possessions but they also smashed the urn containing his ashes, which were found scattered in the house. This has been very distressing and traumatic for the victim who is still trying to come to terms with this incident.

"We would like to hear from anyone with information about these despicable offences, especially people in and around the area at the time who heard or saw anything unusual or suspicious."

A £500 reward is being offered by police for anyone with information leading to the successful prosecution of the offender or offenders.
