Firefighters were called to a car that spontaneously combusted near a busy high street.
The crew from Shoreham Fire Station were called to Church Street, just off High Street in Shoreham, to extinguish a blazing car.
A woman who was driving the car noticed smoke coming from her Volkswagen Touran people-carrier and her brakes were not responding.
The vehicle dramatically went up in flames as firefighters took twenty minutes to tackle the blaze by using the hose reel.
The Touran was completely destroyed, as was another parked vehicle belonging to a disabled woman.
