Brighton and Hove mayoral portrait unveiled
3:55pm Monday 6th January 2014 in News
A Hove gallery will be unveiling the first commissioned mayoral portrait in 30 years.
The portrait of Councillor Denise Cobb, Mayor of Brighton and Hove, by Paul Tash Ostrer will be unveiled at the Naked Eye gallery on January 17.
Along with the unveiling of the Mayoral Portrait, the artist is offering a chance to see his exhibition ‘Reflections’.
He said: “We all paint ourselves in one way or another, but the images are not necessarily of us. Introspection is a necessary process not to be confused with narcissism.
“Also being conscious of my own mortality, self-portraits leave a reference behind, more lasting than photographs in a cupboard. Added to this, with self-portraiture you choose your own narrative, you’re unrestricted by someone else’s constraints.”
His exhibition runs from January 18 to January 31.
