A man needed surgery after being attacked on New Year’s Day.
The 20-year-old man from Hadlow Down, near Uckfield, was targeted in Hett Close, Ardingly, between 1.30am and 2.30am.
The victim was walking with his girlfriend to where they were staying when two or three people approached and attacked him.
He suffered a broken hand which required surgery and a chipped tooth. He was treated at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.
A man aged 40 , from Ardingly, and a boy aged 17 were arrested – the man on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and the boy on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Both were questioned and both have been bailed until February 16.
