A woman was conned by a man pretending to be a police officer.
He knocked on the door of her home in Aldsworth Avenue, Goring, Worthing, at 5.30pm on Friday.
The man told the elderly woman he was an officer and he needed to check the house. While in the address the man stole her handbag.
Detective Constable Max Lippert said: "The man is described as a white, between 35 and 40, and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark blue or green anorak, dark trousers and dark trainers.”
Witnesses should call Sussex Police on 101.
