Sheep have returned to a much-loved Brighton beauty spot for a second year.
More than 140 sheep are currently munching their way through grass and weeds on Tenantry Down, near Whitehawk.
They first appeared on the piece of land last year after rangers fenced off the area. They returned on January 4, 2014 and will remain until the 31.
Following a short break they will be back for another four weeks in late March.
Paul Gorringe, Brighton and Hove City Council ranger, explained the sheep perform an important function.
He said: “They have helped reduce the invasive ragwort weed which has in turn allowed other wildflowers to grow.
“The fenced off area also provides a great space for dog walkers.”
The sheep are on the site for two one-month periods each year during which walkers are asked to keep their dogs on a lead.
The rest of the year they are free to roam.
